- Automotive Conversion Engineering was established in early 1990, when the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, called on EON to exploresteps to convert standard Proton cars to a longer version, i.e. Proton Executive and Proton Limousine
- Through this came about a partnership between EON and an Australian company (specialist with vast experience in conversion of standard cars to Limousine) to produce a stretched Proton. Riding on this initial success, on 25 August 1990, Automotive Conversion Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (ACE)was registered with the purpose of converting standard Proton cars.ACE was then granted the exclusive manufacturing license by the government for its conversion business.
- So far ACE has managed to convert more than 2000 units of Proton Executive and 300 units Proton Limousine of various Proton models. In 1999,ACE was appointed by TD Cars (M) Sdn. Bhd., the owner of TD2000 Sports Classic Car, to undertake the assembly for this niche sports car. ACE has assembled close to 300 units of TD2000 cars both for domestic and export market.In 2006, ACE has been awarded the certified of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System by Malaysian Quality Accreditation Body (SIRIM) for its quality standards.
- In 2008, ACE has started to venture into new businesses namely NGV Business and after sales business located at Kawasan Perindustrian Bukit Raja, Seksyen 7, Shah Alam.
